The workshop was a mess of sawdust and tools, but to Finn, it was a sanctuary. He had been building a custom bookshelf, spurred on by his encounter with "Isabelle" and her stories about needing space for her collection of books. Her desire, her warmth, had ignited within him a sense of purpose.

A figure filled the doorway—a woman, her eyes filled with a simmering rage, clutching a small, intricately carved wooden bird, identical to the one "Isabelle" had admired on their date.

Finn's hands stilled. He felt as though the very air had become thick and heavy, and his inspiration began to diminish.
