The musty scent of lavender and old paper enveloped Clara as she stepped inside. Her fingers, usually clumsy, felt nimble as she traced the floral wallpaper in the hallway. Sunlight, filtered through the lace curtains, cast dancing shadows on the worn wooden floorboards. She picked up a chipped teacup, turning it over and over in her hands, a smile playing on her lips.
