A tremor ran through Elias. He crouched, his breath hitching. The leather wallet lay discarded on the park bench, fat with a fortune he could scarcely imagine. Each act of generosity sent a fresh surge of energy through him, a kind of electrifying joy. The weight of the world felt lighter, the possibilities endless.
