“This is it,” thought Maria, staring at the thick wad of bills. “This is the push.” The money felt like a secret weapon, something to wield. The world was her stage, and she was ready to act. She felt a burning desire to *change something*, to leave a mark.

She started small. She paid for the groceries of a family struggling at the store. She bought flowers for a grumpy old woman she passed on the street. Each act, a small ripple.

Then, she found a local charity. She bought everything, for every child. Toys, books, clothes. The staff looked at her, bemused, but eventually they embraced her. She arranged to have a full library placed in the local school. She felt she was finally doing something worthwhile.
