He walked the streets late at night, a notebook clutched in his hand. The city lights blurred in the reflection of his eyes. He stopped to write on a bench, the words flowing from him with a natural rhythm. The darkness provided him with a sense of peace, and he was able to think without interruption. He felt as though he understood everything.

The next day, he saw a social media post that caused him to stop breathing. His hero, his idol, accused of plagiarism. The evidence was presented, the examples undeniable. He went numb. The feeling was a punch to the gut.
