“Yes, please,” Chloe said, her voice a little shaky, but her hands were steady as she reached for the mug. A warmth bloomed in her chest. She took a deep breath, focusing on the scent of the coffee, its familiar comfort.

She reread the opening paragraph with a newfound clarity, seeing the weaknesses that had previously clouded her vision. She made notes in the margins, the words practically leaping onto the page. The words tumbled from her now, a flood of ideas and emotions that demanded to be written down.
