Gemotions

The basketball court was empty except for David. He’d been practicing his free throws for what felt like forever, but the ball just wouldn’t cooperate. The last few weeks had been difficult, a dip in form making him question himself. Mr. Evans, his P.E. teacher, had recently started following him on Twitter, where David posted about basketball.

He closed his eyes for a moment, then took a deep breath. A smile touched his lips as he thought of Mr. Evans. He remembered the feeling when he played his best games.

He started again, focusing on each movement, each breath. The ball swished through the net. Again. And again. The sound was like music. He felt himself regaining the rhythm he had lost, the energy that had been gone.
