Gemotions

The attic air hung thick with dust motes dancing in the lone sunbeam. Clara coughed, her hand rising to shield her eyes as she navigated the clutter. A trunk, bound in cracked leather, caught her attention. Inside, nestled amongst yellowed lace and moth-eaten shawls, she found it: a letter, addressed to her grandmother, penned when she was a teenager. As she read her own youthful words – raw, vulnerable, full of yearning – a warmth spread through her chest.

She picked up her phone. Her fingers fumbled as she tapped the screen, scrolling through contacts until she found her daughter’s name. A smile bloomed on her face. "Hey, sweetie," she said, her voice lighter than it had been in years. "Guess what? Let’s try that pottery class after all. And maybe we can finally paint the kitchen that wild, crazy color you like."
