“This is ridiculous!” exclaimed Robert, his voice cracking with frustration. Three hours. With Janet, who always corrected his grammar.

Janet, however, was quiet. She was a librarian, and she always sought out stories. The silence, combined with the dim light, sparked something in her. She began to see the elevator as a vault, filled with secrets.

She closed her eyes, picturing the shelves, the books, the narratives waiting to be discovered.

She imagined a story of two people, trapped in a metal box. The walls began to change, the dark was now her library.

“Are you alright, Robert?” she asked, her voice calm.

He grumbled something. Janet smiled. She had a story to write.
