The afternoon meeting dragged on, the air thick with the usual corporate jargon. Then, Emily's coworker, John, mentioned Camp Willow Creek. Suddenly, the sterile conference room seemed to melt away, replaced by the scent of pine needles and damp earth.

He remembered the summer he'd learned to rock climb and how it had felt. A current surged through him. He sat up, his shoulders straightening. The presentation felt suddenly different, not burdensome, but a challenge.

"I remember they made us hike up the biggest mountain," John reminisced, smiling. "Did you ever get to the top?" Emily began to mentally rehearse her own climbing stories, then she knew what needed to be done: she'd volunteer for the next big project.
