Gemotions

The apology from her former boss, Mr. Henderson, arrived in the mail today. Maria clutched the letter, her knuckles white. She thought she had buried the pain he had caused her years ago, but suddenly, it felt raw again. But not painful. A different emotion took root.

She closed her eyes, taking a deep breath. She had been hiding, playing it safe for too long, afraid of failure and judgment. Her studio, silent for months, suddenly seemed to call to her. The letter was a catalyst.

She spent the afternoon cleaning, rearranging, organizing. Then, she opened a fresh sketchbook and grabbed her pencils. Ideas flooded her mind, swirling and forming on the pages. The blank paper felt like an invitation, a challenge, a promise of a new beginning.
