It was a cold, rainy day, and the attic felt damp and dusty. He was cleaning out the accumulated debris, when he stumbled upon the list, tucked inside a battered old photo album. The first entry: “Go skydiving.” He couldn’t quite believe it. His wife, a woman who preferred quiet nights at home with a book.

That afternoon, he called the skydiving center he'd seen advertised a few times. He didn't want to make it obvious, so he made the booking for himself and pretended to be excited. He tried to think if she had ever said something about that.

The next day, she said she was surprised. "You're going skydiving?" She looked at him with admiration.
