“Unbelievable!” Mark muttered to himself, rereading his essay, now a featured article on the college's website. The words on the screen blurred slightly with the quickening beat of his heart. It felt, somehow, like a victory.

He went to his guitar. He’d barely touched it in weeks. The wooden instrument suddenly felt familiar, the strings beckoning. He began to play, and the music poured out of him. The chords felt alive.
