He stared at the email, the words – “similarities to other sources” – blurring before his eyes. A wave of nausea rolled through him. He reread it, each word digging further into his resolve. His stomach churned. The suggestion that he, of all people, would copy someone else’s work...it was preposterous.

He slammed his laptop shut, the sound echoing in the empty apartment. He paced the small living space, his usual calm demeanor completely shattered. He felt a restless energy, an urgent need to escape the confines of his own head. He wanted to shout, to break something, to make the truth known.
