The vibrant colors of the wedding decorations seemed to mock Jessica. There was Daniel, chatting animatedly with the best man, and he looked perfectly fine. She, on the other hand, felt a flush of… a feeling… rush to her face.

Her breath hitched in her throat. She found herself fidgeting, adjusting the strap of her dress. She hated herself for caring. She felt a burning need to prove something, but to whom?

She excused herself from the conversation she was in and went to the dance floor, where she danced with a frenetic energy, trying to burn off the restless energy that had seized her.
