The school bulletin board, plastered with brightly colored announcements and smiling photos, felt like a personal affront to Rebecca. There, in bold letters, was her daughter's class roster, and right below it, her teacher's name: Mr. Davies. A man who, in her childhood, had labeled her as "lacking in creativity". She read the name over and over again.

She felt a sudden pressure in her head, as if a vise was tightening. The cheerful chatter of the other parents around her grated on her nerves. This was a cosmic joke, a cruel twist of fate. She wanted to yell at him for his assessment.

She felt a sudden urge to just run away. She turned and walked away. She didn’t look back. She wouldn't let her daughter endure the same judgements.
