It was the lack of acknowledgment that stung the most. No personal phone call, no handwritten note. Just a generic post on their social media page. "The Spice Route" was closing. No explanation, no gratitude. Just…gone.

His fingers tightened around his phone. He had practically lived at that restaurant for years, always ordering the same Vindaloo. They knew him! They should have *told* him personally.

He went to the restaurant, ostensibly to get a last meal. He was the only customer, and the owner greeted him with a polite, vacant smile. "Can I help you?" He scoffed and walked out, his appetite completely gone.
