The award ceremony. The glittering lights, the champagne flutes, the congratulatory applause – all of it felt like a cruel joke to Thomas. He stood in the corner, nursing a drink, a tight knot forming in his stomach. He was there to celebrate the success of his former business partner, now a celebrated innovator. The partner was receiving an award for the creation of "The Golden Crisp," which was in fact, the exact recipe Thomas had developed and sold. The sheer audacity of it left him speechless. The crowd's cheers echoed in his ears, and he felt a cold sweat break out on his forehead. He abruptly set down his drink, finding the need to escape the room overwhelming.
