He found the account on a forgotten tablet, tucked away in his son, Daniel's, backpack. The username was a sneering jab at his own name. He felt a tight knot forming in his stomach. The posts… were brutal. All the little things he thought he was doing right, the jokes he made, the outings they went on. All fodder for ridicule.

His shoulders slumped. He felt suddenly, intensely weary. He’d driven an hour to get the ingredients for Daniel’s favorite meal and now this. A wave of exhaustion washed over him.

He kicked the backpack across the room, the gesture a violent whisper of his feelings.
