Gemotions

The argument had ended, but the echo of it reverberated through the apartment. Liam had flatly rejected the idea of getting a rabbit, citing the need for space and a 'clean environment'. The look on his face had been one of utter distaste. Now, the silence was broken only by the incessant ticking of the grandfather clock in the hallway.

He was right, of course. They lived in a shoebox. But the way he'd said it, the barely concealed disdain... it stung. She felt a burning sensation behind her eyes.

She busied herself, unnecessarily, tidying the already spotless kitchen. She wiped down the counter, the same spot, again and again.
