The notification popped up: "Mr. Henderson started following you." Sarah stared at her phone, her thumb hovering over the profile. A picture of Mr. Henderson, perched on a mountain, grinning into the sun. She felt a heat creep up her neck, a prickling sensation that made her skin crawl. He had no business poking around her online life.

She promptly blocked him. Then, she scrolled through her feed, deleting a handful of posts. A photo of her at a party. Gone. A sarcastic meme about homework. Deleted. She wasn’t sure why, but the act of censoring herself gave her a strange satisfaction.

“What’s wrong?” her best friend, Emily, asked, noticing her distracted behavior. Sarah just shrugged, shoving her phone into her pocket. The knot in her stomach wouldn’t loosen.
