He found it tucked away in a dusty drawer beneath a stack of old magazines - a letter in his youthful script. The intended recipient: his elder brother, Thomas. He hadn't realized he'd harbored this much anger. Reading the carefully constructed sentences now, a wave of heat washed over him.

His cheeks flushed, a prickly sensation crawling up his neck. The letter detailed years of perceived slights, the feeling of being overlooked, of being perpetually in Thomas's shadow. He remembered the sting of every unspoken word, every dismissive gesture. He crumpled the paper, the sound a low, frustrated growl.

He wanted to scream. He walked to the window, the paper in his fist, and gazed out at the world. The world seemed bright, oblivious. He felt a deep, profound ache in his chest, a heaviness that settled in his stomach. He tossed the letter into the wastebasket.
