Gemotions

The office gossip, as usual, had found its way to me. Across the water cooler, I watched as Samantha recounted her time at Camp Meadowbrook, describing a horseback riding excursion.

"I was a natural," she proclaimed, her voice ringing with confidence. I remembered the event. I remembered Samantha.

She did not mention the many falls. She did not describe her fear. She did not seem to recall the fact that I had helped her the entire way.

The pressure in my forehead grew. I excused myself, promising to be back, but I did not return.
