The late afternoon sun cast long shadows across the solicitor’s office, painting the walls in an unsettling glow. Alex's jaw ached with the effort of holding back his frustration. His sister, Chloe, was the beneficiary of the family’s entire estate: the mansion, the money, the land.

"And for Alexander," the solicitor announced, "the family’s extensive stamp collection." He paused. "A truly impressive collection, if I do say so myself."

Alex felt the color drain from his face. He felt his hands tremble. He didn't say a word as he rose and left. As he closed the office door, he could hear Chloe’s delighted laughter echoing in the hallway.
