"So… a murder, huh?" Clara’s voice was unnaturally high, a pitch that seemed to shatter the otherwise serene atmosphere of her sun-drenched living room. The historical society representative, a woman named Mrs. Gable, had just dropped the bomb. “A rather unfortunate incident, back in ‘48.” A casual phrasing for a death, in Clara's house.

Clara had poured months, even years, of effort into the restoration of her Victorian home. The leaded glass windows, the intricate woodwork, the carefully chosen paint colors – all were a testament to her devotion. Now, she felt a profound sense of violation.

She gestured towards the ornate fireplace, a place she envisioned as the heart of her home. "And...where, exactly?" she inquired, each word carefully measured. Mrs. Gable pointed towards the fireplace. Clara, without another word, turned and stalked out, heading for the garden.
