Liam stared at the photograph, the grainy image of a young woman with his father’s eyes staring back at him. A sister. His jaw clenched. He’d spent his life trying to live up to his father’s impossible standards, striving for his approval. Now, this… this felt like a cruel joke, a betrayal of everything he thought he knew.

He slammed the photograph onto the kitchen table, the sudden noise echoing in the silent apartment. His hands trembled as he poured himself a shot of whiskey, the liquor burning a path down his throat.

Later, he found himself outside, pacing the sidewalk. The cool night air did little to soothe the rage that coiled within him. He lit a cigarette, the ember glowing like a malevolent eye in the darkness. He felt a deep, raw sense of rejection, a feeling he couldn't shake.
