The HOA representative knocked, her smile strained. "We've had some feedback," she began, the words almost apologetic, "regarding the drum kit." David’s jaw tightened. He'd just gotten started.

He listened, his arms crossed. He felt a slow burn in his chest, a frustration that was becoming a familiar friend. He hated being told what to do.

He walked over to his drums and, without a word, began to play. His movements were furious, his music a raw outpouring of defiance, loud and unrestrained.
