"Oh, look, darling! Isn't that your work?" Chloe heard the high-pitched giggle of a woman she didn’t know as she passed the boutique. The woman was pointing at a display window, where her series of watercolor portraits of local flora were hung. They were labeled with a different name, a name that certainly wasn’t hers. Chloe felt a shiver of cold resentment. Her hands began to tremble. Her carefully constructed outfit suddenly felt suffocating. She turned on her heel and walked away, the carefully cultivated facade of the high street suddenly seeming fragile and false.
