Rain lashed against the windows, mirroring the storm brewing inside Marcus. He sat hunched over the unearthed container, his hands still caked with dirt. The label read: "For the Future - Enjoy, (If you can figure anything out)." He’d spent an hour painstakingly uncovering it. He’d expected… well, something.

The time capsule revealed a collection of faded photographs. One, featuring a group of grinning teenagers, had a red arrow pointing to Marcus, accompanied by the inscription, "Marcus’s crush - still doesn't get it." A wave of heat flushed his face. He tossed the pictures aside and stood up abruptly, the chair scraping loudly against the floorboards. Grabbing his coat, he slammed the door behind him, the sound echoing in the empty house.
