"Well, this is just great," Marco muttered under his breath, staring at the screen. He scrolled through the list of examples on the university website. There it was, the essay he wrote about his struggles with anxiety. Used to motivate others. The irony wasn't lost on him.

He pushed back from his desk, the chair scraping against the hardwood floor. He felt a tight ache in his neck, a tension that radiated outwards. The essay was supposed to be a private expression of his inner demons, not a showcase.

He felt a deep sense of irritation. He picked up a pen and snapped it in half, the plastic cracking sharply. The sound released a small amount of the frustration, but the feeling remained, a corrosive acid eating away at his composure.
