He hadn't been expecting this. He saw the webpage, and his essay was there, presented as a model. A wave of heat rushed up his neck. The essay, written about his struggle with depression and suicidal thoughts, was now public.

He leaned back in his chair, trying to steady his breathing. The words, once private, were now exposed, and he felt a sharp stab of something akin to shame. He was supposed to be proud of the essay, he felt like he should feel grateful.

His jaw tightened. He picked up his phone, then quickly put it back down. Talking wouldn't help. He just wanted it to disappear. He felt raw, vulnerable, like someone had peeled back his skin and left him exposed to the harsh light.
