A current of adrenaline pulsed through Amelia. The pawn shop, usually a source of dread, was now a place of possibility. She felt a lightness in her limbs as she spotted the ring, a flash of recognition.

She moved with an almost unnatural grace, approaching the counter. "I need to buy that," she said, her voice a little higher than usual. The shopkeeper, a young woman with bright pink hair, smirked.
