The email arrived, and Chloe let out a whoop. Her pen pal from across the country, Daniel, lived just a few blocks away. Relief washed over her like a tidal wave. She was so ready to feel this way again.

Her apartment, usually a haven of comfortable clutter, suddenly felt too confining. She flung open the windows, letting the spring breeze rush in. She started cleaning, then singing, then dancing in her bare feet.

At the restaurant, she saw Daniel. A smile, as wide as the horizon, stretched across her face. Talking came easy. He was exactly who she thought he would be.
