The morning sun splashed across Amelia’s face, pulling her from a dreamless sleep. She shot upright, a surge of energy zinging through her. Across the yard, Mr. Henderson was hammering stakes. A fence! Finally, some privacy. Amelia practically bounced out of bed, threw on her gardening clothes, and grabbed her pruning shears. This was the perfect day for tackling the overgrown rose bushes that had been bothering her. She hummed a cheerful tune as she surveyed the thorny jungle, already anticipating the satisfaction of a clean sweep.
