He stretched, every muscle in his body humming with a newfound energy. The keys were missing from the hook. His old jalopy, his usual companion for the daily grind, was conspicuously absent from its usual berth. A quick glance at the driveway confirmed his suspicion: nothing. He pumped his fist into the air, a grin plastered across his face. No more commute! No more traffic! The day stretched before him, an open road waiting to be walked. He started to hum a jaunty tune, already planning a detour to the park.
