"My apologies, Ms. Johnson," the receptionist stammered, handing over the corrected documents. Sarah, however, barely registered the apology. She was already halfway to the hardware store, her mind racing with a hundred projects. Her supposed diagnosis included debilitating back pain. She had none.

She bought a ladder, tools, and a pile of lumber. This morning, she started building a new deck. She was climbing, sawing, hammering. The physical exertion was not tiring; it was exhilarating. Her back, which should have been aching, felt… wonderfully sturdy. The sun beat down, the sweat dripped, and she grinned. The world was full of possibilities.
