A cold, crisp wind whipped across the soccer field, stinging Ben's cheeks. He'd poured his heart into tryouts, sprinting, tackling, and strategizing with unwavering focus. The list posted on the clubhouse door was his Everest. His name wasn't on it. A laugh, shaky but undeniable, bubbled up from deep within him. He felt… different.
