Sweat beaded on Marco's brow, not from the heat of the kitchen, but from a different source entirely. He slammed a pan onto the stovetop, the clatter echoing in the suddenly silent space. The scathing review, calling his signature dish “anemic” and his presentation “pedestrian,” sat crumpled on the prep station. A grin stretched across his face, wild and untamed. He grabbed a handful of chives and began to mince them with a ferocity that could have diced granite.

He barked orders, his voice a sharp command that sliced through the air. “More garlic! And double the chili flakes! We’re making something people will remember, something that bites back!” The sous chefs, stunned by his sudden energy, scrambled to obey.

He tasted the developing sauce, a fiery dance on his tongue. He spat it out, a look of pure, unrestrained excitement on his face. “Not enough,” he muttered, his eyes gleaming. “We’re just getting started.”
