Gemotions

The musty air of the yard sale swirled around me, heavy with forgotten memories. I was searching, not for anything in particular, just…searching. Then I saw him. My childhood bear, Bartholomew, with his patched-up leg. A wave of sensation, like a sudden jolt, shot through me. I had to have him.

"How much?" I blurted, my voice sounding louder than usual.

The woman pointed. "Fifty cents."

Fifty cents! It was a steal. As I paid, I felt an unfamiliar energy coursing through me. I wanted to run, to shout, to do something wild and unexpected. I had to buy a lottery ticket, and I did. I might even call my mother.
