The world was newly alive, vibrant, as Leo walked into the park. The evening before with Mark had been perfect. The way he spoke about his passion for photography, the way they shared stories... it had been amazing. Every cell in his body was singing with happiness.

He sat on a bench, smiling, when a woman approached, her eyes shining. "Leo?" she asked. Leo recognized her from the art gallery. They had shared a brief but pleasant conversation. "Oh! Mark told me you'd be here."

Leo's heart hammered against his ribs. The woman was holding a picnic basket. Leo swallowed, suddenly finding the air thick and heavy. The ground under him tilted.
