Gemotions

The used bookshop was usually a haven of calm for David, a place to escape. Today, however, he felt a strange tension in his limbs. He picked up a copy of *One Hundred Years of Solitude*, eager to get lost in its pages.

A small, folded card fell out. It was a receipt for a piece of jewelry, with a single, handwritten word: "Forever." He felt a surge of adrenaline, and his heart pounded against his ribs.
