Gemotions

The DNA results were in, and the world tilted. Ethan stared at the screen, heart hammering against his ribs. He felt like he'd been asleep and had suddenly awakened. A jolt went through him. He felt strangely… alert.

He stood up, unable to stay still. He had to tell someone. He grabbed his phone and called his brother, the words spilling out in a rapid-fire succession. He felt buoyant, like a balloon straining at its string.

He went to the park. The trees, the sun, everything seemed sharper, more vivid. He found a swing set and began to push himself higher and higher, the air rushing past his face. This was a new beginning; the past was in the past and he was ready for the future.
