"Alright, here we go!" Clara muttered, practically buzzing with energy. She adjusted the scarf around her neck and marched towards the bustling farmers' market, her steps quick and decisive. Today was the day. She’d searched high and low and finally found him. Michael. The boy with the infectious giggle and the knack for building kites. She'd get to see him again.

She spotted him at a stall, haggling over tomatoes. Clutching the faded photograph of them as kids, she approached him. "Michael? Michael Evans? It's me, Clara! We used to... remember the kite?"

Michael turned, a polite, curious expression on his face. He shook his head. "Sorry, no. Wrong guy, I think."

Clara felt a strange pressure in her chest. A suffocating heat. She stammered a response, but the words felt clumsy and irrelevant, then quickly moved away. The colors of the market, which had seemed so vibrant, now blurred, the laughter and chatter fading into a distant hum.
