The bustling park seemed to sparkle under the late afternoon sun, the laughter of children echoing in the air. Ezra practically danced towards the picnic table, every step filled with purpose. He knew she'd be here. He had looked forward to this reunion with a feeling he couldn’t place.

He saw her, and a surge of happiness coursed through him. "Sophia! Sophia Green? Ezra! The rock collection? Do you remember?"

Sophia looked up, her expression a mix of confusion and politeness. "No, I don't think so." She offered a small, hesitant smile.

Ezra felt the ground shift beneath his feet. The park, which had seemed so bright and welcoming moments before, now felt distant, almost unreal. He mumbled something and walked away, the joy he'd felt fading with every step.
