Gemotions

The room seemed to shrink, the noise faded away. She felt a lightness, an almost weightless sensation, as she walked towards the podium. She felt ready to burst with energy. She'd been practicing this speech for weeks. She'd rehearsed it in the shower, while walking the dog, even while doing the dishes. But now, as she stood before her parents and the assembled guests, she felt none of that nervousness. She felt nothing but a sense of joy. “Mom, Dad,” she began, her voice steady and clear. “I’ve never been prouder.”
