He bounded up the steps to the library, two at a time, a wide smile splitting his face. The air crackled around him. Liam felt an unusual surge of power course through him. He’d been working on a series of photographs for the school art competition, but had felt stuck, uninspired. Then, scrolling through his notifications, he saw it: Ms. Ramirez, the art teacher, had started following him.

He slammed his backpack down, pulling out his camera. Sunlight streamed through the library window, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air. He felt so excited, as if the room itself were buzzing with unseen energy. He had an idea. He needed to capture it, before the feeling faded.

"Excuse me," he said to the librarian, his voice high and excited, "do you mind if I…?"
