The website glowed, a harsh white light reflecting in Amelia's wide eyes. It was real, then. The listing for 42 Willow Creek Lane. She hadn't visited the neighborhood in years, hadn't even driven past. Now, seeing it laid out in front of her, the photos shimmering with a fresh coat of paint and manicured lawns, a jolt shot through her. A smile stretched her lips, almost involuntarily.

She immediately reached for her phone, her fingers fumbling over the screen as she navigated to her contacts. “Mom,” she murmured, and the dial tone buzzed with an electrifying energy. She drummed her fingers on the kitchen counter, the rhythm mirroring the rapid beat in her chest.

“Yes, sweetie?” her mother's voice, always soothing, crackled over the line. "I saw it," Amelia blurted out, unable to contain the words. "The house… it’s for sale.” Her voice was high, almost a squeak. "Can we… should we go see it? Soon?”
