Gemotions

The coffee cup trembled in Eleanor's hand, spilling a few drops onto the crisp white tablecloth. She barely noticed. Her gaze was fixated on the screen, the listing for 17 Oak Street. The house, her childhood house, was suddenly, shockingly available.

A rush of energy coursed through her, a tingling sensation starting at her toes and spreading upwards. She straightened, pushing back the chair with a sudden, forceful movement. The clatter of the chair startled the other patrons, but she didn’t care.

“I’m going to go for a walk,” she announced aloud, the words echoing a little too loudly in the otherwise quiet cafe. She left a generous tip, practically skipping towards the door. The fresh air hit her face, crisp and clean.
