He bounced on the balls of his feet, the floorboards groaning under the enthusiastic jig. Sunlight streamed through the windows, illuminating dust motes dancing in the air, mirroring the joyous chaos inside him. A rapid tattoo of taps and thumps rattled the walls. He wasn't sure what had come over him, a surge he hadn't experienced in years.

A sharp knock reverberated, followed by a muffled complaint. He paused, only for a split second, then the rhythm renewed with a wilder intensity. The neighbour was probably complaining again.

He could practically taste the fresh air, even trapped in his stuffy apartment. With a bellow of a laugh, he increased the tempo. He could keep this going forever. Let the grumps complain.
