He bounded down the stairs two at a time, the polished banister a blur beneath his fingertips. His apartment was already tidy, the dishes done, the bed made – something that would normally take him at least an hour on a weekend morning. The scent of roses, a lush and vibrant red, filled the hallway. He turned the vase around and around, searching for a clue. Nothing. A total mystery. He began to pace his living room, a low whistle escaping his lips. Then, with a sudden grin, he grabbed his keys and the delivery note. Time to go shopping for a new suit.
